- Dated: 17th century
- Culture: South Indian, Deccan
- Measurements: overall length: 44in (1115mm). Blade length: 32.5in (825mm)
This appears to be a rare sword because of the short cuff; normally the cuff or arm guard is almost twice the length. This version appears to be a slightly earlier variant, and further up the the timeline in transition from the hooded Katar to Pata Sword.
Tha sword employs a long European style flexible blade, marked with two crescent moons on each side. The steel hilt is profusely and elaborately chiselled with floral and geometric patters. The hand grip bar is pinned to the guard with very decorative floral steel rivet heads.
